Place is OK... it's a little hole in wall trying very hard to be an Irish pub. If you like Irish music, darts, and live acoustic entertainment, this is a decent place to go.

If you expect to get any semblance of service, go somewhere else. Slowest and least personable bartenders in Frederick. Probably not the tenders' fault - they seem to be understaffed. With so many other places to go in Frederick, it's tough to recommend this place.

I walked in to this place on a quiet Saturday afternoon with a group of 6 people expecting to be seated or at least acknowledged but no one - and I mean no one - even took as much as a look at us. I called the bar tender over who seemed to be talking to as group of regulars at the end of the bar near the entrance. There was no one else in this establishment. One young woman came out of the kitchen area and took one look at us and turned around without a word and went back into the kitchen. Our group sat at the far end of the bar waiting for the bartender to at least come over and ask us what drinks we would like but he again would not even so much as look our way. Finally my friend went down to the end of the bar after 10 minutes and confronted the bartender in a polite manner to please provide some service but the bartenders response was "you'll have to wait can't you see I'm busy" and the other patrons (his friends I presume?) chuckled. After a total of 20 minutes we got up and left and all of us heard this group and the bartender chuckling and making some sort of rude comments. I have since then made it a point to tell many others to never attempt to eat at this restaurant as the service was reprehensible to say the least.

The music is usually pretty mediocre but it's fun to chill in the bar, especially if you're a fan of the Irish pub atmosphere (I've been to Ireland, and this bar does it better than any other Irish imitation bar I've visited in the states). Wednesday's are great for mellow music and pints ($2.50 for Guinness, Harp, and Smithwick's on Wed.)

Out and about traveling the world Like I have been for a few years. I plan on visiting Bushwaller's in 3 weeks on a monday. Ihope you all are open I'm coming 9,000 miles just to go there. I have always loved the food there the atmosphere and the people. I used to party there with the bands and god knows all the regulars there I was one of them. I plan on making it a kodak moment. And having a few pints will be the best as here in Iraq we cannot drink alcohol. So good luck to all and see you in a few. G-day, Keywest (Mark Gilbert)

P.S. Did you all recieve my postcard from the green zone. Bagdad, Iraq

This was the first restaurant I walked into in Frederick twenty years ago. What's great about this place is the atmosphere. It has an honest to goodness Irish pub feel and they have a good beer selection on tap and a pretty good liquor selection too.

What's okay is the food and music. The menu selection is slim but the food is pretty good quality. Thursday nights they have a fun open mic, which is really a house band with walk on musicians. They often have good live music on the weekends too, but you cannot find out who is playing in advance. There is no web site and even the employees do not know who is playing until the band arrives to set-up.

What's bad, and I hate to trash a bar that I frequent, but the bartenders seem to win the local friendliest bartenders in Frederick contest each year and I just don't see it. When the bar gets crowded at night expect a pecking order for service....women with big ta-ta's, women without big ta-ta's, regulars and then the rest of us. Literally, I've waited an hour for a beer when it gets busy, and this was sitting right at the bar.

One night the bartender had been mistakenly putting another party's drinks on my tab. When I brought this to his attention I felt like I was on trial. He eventually fixed the problem but there was nothing resembling an apology or anything close.

This is a true pub and a little bit of a hole-in-the-wall compared to the other dining establishments that have sprouted up around it. I will continue to go because of this causual atmosphere and pretty good music. But you have to be prepared to tolerate the service and if you are searching for the friendliest bartenders in town try the Canal Bar, Griff's Landing, Firestones or Acacia.

Because our waitress was obviously over-loaded with too many tables to handle, she could not provide the attention to the other tables waiting. I witnessed an elderly couple in the table spend 25 minutes to pay their bill by the time the waitress got it, came back for payment and returned the receipt. Our table's glasses went empty and stayed that way for quite some time. Our appetizers came about 25 minutes after ordering them and they were piping hot. Our dinners came out 10 minutes later (not quite finished with the app's) and it was cold. I had ordered the crab melt sandwich-I can only assume it was left to sit-the cheese became cold and hardened. The crab dip was ok and the crab cake may have tasted better if it was warmer. My fries were freezing and the waitress didn't think to bring ketchup so I asked for some. We were never even offered cocktail or tartar sauce and we were having crab cakes! After waiting for about 10 more minutes, she obviously had forgotten so I asked the very friendly hostess and she helped our table. Then to top it off, we used our Frederick Magazine B1G1 dinner coupon and there was an 18% gratuity automatically added on! Now in one of the few cases the tip would have reflected the service, I could do nothing about it. It would be different if the waitress ran the entire time and I would have been more sympathetic but on 2 different occassions she was standing at the bar talking to the bartender! Needless to say, I will never be back again.
