Callahans is a favorite of mine. The food is always exceptional. I have always been treated like a valued guest! I will be eating at this restaurant in 50 years! The seafood imperial is my fave but the chicken callahan is also superb!

We have been there twice and have been very disappointed both times. Food just about edible, service poor.

In late August, 2010, I had a surprise birthday party for my wife - one of the really big numbers! We had a select grouping of family and a few special long time friends from scattered across 4 states. Total of about 16 people or so. They were set up for us and it worked just great. The appetizers came quickly and the wait for the entrees was not bad at all considering that thay were cooking for so many people. Everyone really enjoyed their dinner! The food was great! Desserts were great as well! Everyone was "full" and had a really good time. This was a five star experience and we will be going back in the near future for more of that great seafood.

I have tried this place twice at lunch. The food is really good but the service is so slow we can never get done in an hour. Also both times I've been there I didn't get drink refills. You get no attention from your wait staff.

So glad we found this place! We ordered crab cakes, crab legs and the crab chowder (yeah, we like crab a little bit!) and everything was GREAT! Callahan's was much better than a more expensive restaurant we visited in Baltimore. Great selection, great service, and a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

good service and freidnly staff. comforatable atmosphere with excellent seafood and the best steaks.

The seafood here is excellent and well-priced. I highly recommend the crab dip, but only if you have a large group. Otherwise you won't be able to eat any of your dinner. This is my favorite place to eat because there is rarely a wait. I voted it as Best Seafood on Frederick Magazine's Best of list!

This is the friendliest place in town with fantastic food and a great happy hour. The french dip is astounding- get it with cheese so they heat it up *drool*. The MD Crab soup cannot be beat. The crabcakes are excellent. Now that there's no smoking allowed we eat here at least twice a week. :)

Great food. The cream of crab soup is out of this world.

This is the best Seafood in Frederick and they do have the best Crab Cakes! But you should try the filet as well. Highly recomended

Had a ball there this past Saturday night. The bartenders were the best in Frederick, WE will be back. Thanks to the staff for great time.

The exterior is a bit bleak and the interior dark but the food was very good. Not the best (or biggest) crab cakes in Maryland but the prices are reasonable and the food certainly good enough to bring us back again.

I went to Callahan's by myself while my wife was out of town, because I wanted the chance to enjoy some seafood (which my wife happens to hate). There was hardly anyone there, and I got great service on a Saturday night. I got the Steamed Shrimp appetizer ($9) and surf-n-turf ($23, I opted for the crab cake and a 10-oz sirloin).
Everything was amazing. The shrimp was great and they were huge, the steak was perfectly prepared, and the crab cake was out of this world. I can't wait to go back... after a steak like that I'm sure that my wife will have no problem eating there.

We thought the prices were way to high for the quality of the food. Average Seafood!!!

Had better crab cakes at most other frederick locations. Smokey atmosphere.

Has gone down hill since new owners took over a few years ago. maybe 2 years or so...they have really lost something. they got rid of things on the menu that people loved and things just dont seem as personal anymore..... dissapointed.

Wonderful food and great live band each time while I was there. Crab cakes and all seafood entrees have been exceptional. Service was a little slow once or twice, but that could have been due to the large crowds there each time I have gone. I would recommend (and do) this place to any people in the area.

The crab cake was awesome, large salad, fried calamari was alright, filet mignon very good.

I was pleasatly surprised with the quality of food. The crab soup is the best in town. The salmon I had was cooked perfectly. My friend had th steak. Can't beat the quality and price. I'll be back

Well, the food was good. The service was not. We went for lunch. There was no explanation on the menu that certain lunch entrees did not come with sides, and the daily menu was not even accurate as to what the "side of the day" was - vegetable medley (described as carrots, peas, and "other stuff" by our waitress) turned out to be soggy canned corn. We still left a fine tip for the service rendered. But that wasn't good enough for them. While balancing my check book I realized they'd bumped the tip to an overly generous 20%.

Comments on this restaurant? Very good prices, very generous portions. Good service, relaxed atmosphere. At least as good as Dutch's Daughter without the pretension or the exorbitant prices. Very popular so make reservations!

Great food! House sub with special sauce.extra sauce of course..try it you will love it. perfect place for romantic or nice family evening as well as a fun night at the bar. Very impressive how they work the two so closely.

Callahan's may consider seafood its specialty but there's no doubt that it has one of the best hamburgers in town (yes, better than Wags). It tastes authenticly charcoal grilled and is so flavorful that no condiments are needed - just salt and pepper to taste. Cooked perfectly to order, it's so juicy and large (8 oz.) that it's served on a fresh kaiser roll rather than a burger bun.
Date: May 30, 2003
Food is excellent, service impeccable, generous portions at very reasonable prices. Desserts too delicious for words. Have enjoyed many fine entree's and would recommend Callahan's to anyone looking for a worthwhile dining expierience.
