Absolutely the best place we've tried around here. The food was excellent. Even better, the service was impressive - it's rare to get good service in a restaurant these days. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. My cold asparagus appetizer came with chilled silverware. My husband didn't have to ask for lemon with his fish, he got a half lemon wrapped in cheesecloth. When coffee time came around, my husband was away from the table, so the server poured mine, but waited until he returned so his wouldn't cool, without being asked. Attention to detail like this is so rare, it's an extra delight to find it. We've only visited once, for lunch. Hope to go back for dinner soon and be just as pleased.

This has always been a favorite stop for my husband and me. Somewhat pricey, but well worth it. Best atmosphere and great service, love the way the servers are dressed in bohemian colonial look. Food is great!!!!

I'll keep this simple - this is the best food and best dining experience in Frederick county, that I'm aware of.

Visit Hagan's Tavern for a special occasion.
The wait staff is clothed in colonial-period dress and speak of the rich history of the historic tavern. Many famous historic figures have graced the original hardwood floors. The food is home-made, made from scratch and delectable! In the cooler months they have the fireplaces (1 in each room) lit that adds to the historic atmosphere. Make reservations at least a few days prior.
