  While the food is good, this is not the place to go if you are hungry. One really has to read between the lines on the menu. I ordered "sirloin", and for $22.00, I thought I was getting a steak. Instead, I received about 2 bites of meat and the equivalent of 1/4 of a potato. So the "extras" should really be called "necessities". At most American restaurants, too much food is served, so I didn't order a salad or bread because I THOUGHT I had ordered a meal. After the 4 bites of food came, I was not satisfied. An owner type came around and inquired and I told him the situation. He suggested "you could order a salad now, like the Europeans". I've been to Europe a few times and have NEVER needed dessert OR a second helping. Good food- but I'm tiring of the pretension places like Volt, Shab Row Bistro and now the Wine Kitchen have brought to Frederick.
