My husband and I make sure we eat at Jennifer's when we have stayed in Frederick once a year for the past several years. We love the atmosphere. The servers have always been friendly, and the food has always been great. Sometimes we have stopped in for an after dinner drink after eating somewhere else.

Picked this place for healthy menu and the name. I have very specific needs for my foods and this wonderful place gives me a few excellent choices, the spa menu is fab and I can hightly recommend the filet. The sides were perfect and salad divine!!!! Wish I lived here. Been there for dinner 4 nights in a row. Anytime I visit the area I will be there! I highly recommend the atmosphere, food, staff and Jennifer herself! Thanks for an awesome experience.

great service and wonderful food. Yes, it is quite small and cozy but I can't see why someone would be surprised by that since the restaurant is obviously small as seen from the outside. it is definitely not a haute cuisine experience but since it bills itself as a pub that is what should be expected. The large menu is great for when you don't know what you want or when the family cannot agree on where to go...jennifer's has it all.
ps- I love the no-cell phone policy.

I frequently stop in at Jennifer's for a pint of Guiness, a quick snack or even dinner. I've never had an issue getting served and the cuisine is great.
I'm glad Jennifer doesn't allow annoying cell phones and I'm glad all restaurants are NON-smoking. As long as the the service is great, the food comes quickly and the beer flows rapidly... I will continue to patronize this restuarant.

In response to the post, Jennifer's has not allowed smoking in over a year. The food is good, I like the hot and crispy chicken. They pour a excellent Guiness. The major negative is the service is very uneven.

Glad to see that the first review is no longer current. It was great to have lunch without smoking and cell phones. Food was graet and service very prompt.

i have been there at least 4 times for business dinner, or an evening out with friends. each time was a dissapointment. from under cooked food, to poorly sliced corned beef. (you cut corned beef across the grain, not with the grain) the service is poor, and the attitude is HUGE. i never think of going there unless i have to.

Jennifer's is smoke free, and has been for almost a year. The lead comment should be revised as it is very inaccurate.

I was not impressed . . .

As close to a real pub as you can get in the US. But being a non-smoker the place is pretty much off limits. They didn't have a fryer the last time I visited, so no fries with burgers. But other than that, the food has always been excellent. Good range of beers. One of the best drops of Guinness in town. There seems to be a more subdued atmosphere when Jennifer is present. But overall, I'd recommend this place.

4 of us just dinned at Jennifer’s and it will be our last time patronizing this restaurant. Service was terrible. Once we flagged down the waiter to come collect our orders and the food was brought we never saw him again till we had to flag him down again for our check! No drink refills we offered, didn’t check to see if we needed any additional condiments, or if our food was ok. I ordered a white pizza which was barely warm and consisted of a frozen pizza shell (Boboli brand comes to mind) with some half melted cheese on top. My co-worker ordered a crab cake sandwich was just “ok”, one had blackened catfish which just about burnt every taste bud on her tongue from the excessive spices (a drink refill would have come in very handy and this point!) and the other co-worker’s sandwich was acceptable. Overall a very bad experience and the owner and staff could have cared less if we even came in and ate since they didn’t pay a bit of attention to us! You would have thought with only 3 tables being occupied the whole time we were there they would have catered to us a little better!

What really gets me is, how can a restaurant ask a person to not use their cell phones inside (which by itself I'm not totally opposed to) but then let the person next to them give everyone lung cancer with their second hand smoke?? We asked Jennifer herself, and her (pathetic) response was that she had some regulars that she would not want to lose if she made her place non-smoking. How funny. NOT.
Meanwhile, the Guiness is fresh (clean taps- yum) and the pizzas are fabulous. It's been years since I ordered entrees there so can't comment on them these days, and we, who go out to eat at least 5 times a week, will not be going back there until she drops the attitude.

My wife and I have both lived in Frederick since the late 80's. Frequent downtown diners, neither of us had ever eaten at Jennifer's until last night (Valentine's Day). Entering the establishment, we were met with mixed emotions. The decor and atmosphere impresses you with warmth and invite, but with tables within arm's reach of the door we were practically already dining with those seated. Being lead to the back of the dining room, we were seated at a nice, spacious table....the left side of my face soon tanned and irradiated by the big-screen television acting as our sideboard. The enthusiastically pierced young lady that came and took our drink orders offered little assistance in explaining the menu or establishing any sort of dialogue. We had finished our first round of drinks, as well as most of our ice waters (pured into glasses that originally had our grease stained menus stuffed in them) before we had to flag down our studded server to place both our appetizer and entree orders (we figured we better go for broke while we had her attention). Our crab dip (more like crab pate', the crab was lost somewhere) left much to be desired. The bread that came with it though was very good. My wife and I both orderd "Jen's Chicken", a generously sized chicken breast stuffed and topped with.....something?? In the interim we enjoyed the highlight of the meal, a surprising fresh plate of mixed greens with dressings to both our likings. Our meals arrived....wait, that's prime rib, those aren't our meals....OOPS! They belonged to the couple two tables down. Evidently the misplaced plates dictated a change in servers. Another young lady appeared with what did prove to be the fare we ordered and she now became our server. Confused with who we should flag down, we finally got girl #2 to correct my wife's plate by scraping off the rice and replacing it with the potatoes she originally requested. Again, I must stress the freshness of all the vegtable matter we were served, including the beans that came with our entree. Evidently at Jennifer's though, the beans are served el fresco. After scraping off the skimmed over, non-discript custard looking sauce topping my chicken, my first cut revealed a very tender, very juicy piece of meat. The chicken itself had good taste, but again it was just chicken. Expecting a stuffing with some substance, I was met with a paste like matter which quickly evacuated the chicken after my second or third cut. Vowing to be subjective to the very end, we ordered a piece of the highly touted carrot cake recommended by girl #1 (she's baaaaack). The portion was generous (more than enough for two to share), the cake was very moist, but the cream cheese icing mediocre. Every course of our meal left "doggy-bag" quantities, but we opted to leave empty handed. Would I return....probably. Would I do so with the intent of sitting down to a full course meal....probably not. As I said initially, when you walk into Jennifer's you feel welcome, like there should be a stool with your name on it. The ambiance is inviting and on this night Jennifer herself was our hostess. Wanting desparately to enjoy an entire visit here, I'd probably return for a lunch time sandwich and a cold beer, but hoping to surprise my Valentine with a fresh, unexplored dining experience will have to wait another year.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Love the fruit and cheese platter. Love the fireplace in the winter time. Never had a bad meal.

I have been dining at Jennifer's for 17 years and have yet to have a bad experience

I enjoy the atmosphere at Jennifer's and the fact that they ask patrons to turn off their cell phones. My family particularly enjoys the variety of ales, the fruit and cheese platter, and the menu pleases even the pickiest in my family. The shepherd's pie is absolutely delicious.

Such a quaint and cozy restaurant - absolutely love the authentic Irish Pub feel, wonderful atmosphere. Nice selection of beer...
Large menu lacks a bit of an identity - includes varied specialties that span from Asian to Irish to Cajun to Spa Cuisine. Although Jennifer's has a self-proclaimed "eclectic" menu, I was skeptical of their competency level on such a wide range of cuisines. Unfortunately, their mediocre Asian shrimp soup that I tried makes me hesitant to try other of their several featured Asian dishes in the future. Perhaps they should stick to fine pub cuisine... In the meantime - Jennifer's is definitely worth a visit!
