This place is terrible. All the crabs that aren't eaten at one table end up on another table after reheating. Pretty disgusting. That's why I take my boat out and catch my own crabs. Mmm

LOVED it!! The crab legs, blue crabs, fried oysters, steamed shrimp, steamed clams were all amazing and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The steak was pretty bad, but it is a seafood restaurant, not a steak restaurant. I can't wait to go back!

Their "all you can eat" is fun, but the crabs are small and take a lot of work. If you order crabs off the menu, you get meaty big ones.

Best to go when they're busy--you get the food right off the stove. Some places have cooked crabs sitting around and re-cook them: if they're black, you can tell. Love their fried oysters.

I have been many times and am always very happy with the food. I've had everything from all you and eat crabs to the short order fried clam basket. I LOVE their french fries! Some very light kind of coating on them makes them delicious. Biggest seal of approval came when I took my mother. She is VERY particular about restaurants and she loved this place for the food, atmosphere and staff! Very clean, cute place too!

We love Liberty Road Seafood. The food is awesome and the servers are the friendliest. They remember you each visit and really seem to enjoy working here. The food is fantastic...all homemade and freshly prepared. Well worth the price!!!! We will definitely be back.

Liberty Road Seafood rocks. Great seafood, fun, courteous staff, very kid friendly and the best crab cakes around. All you can eat crabs and crab legs with tons of other hand breaded seafood. Save room for dessert...the hot fudge cake is to die for. Be sure to make reservations. They are always busy.

I have beent there twice in the last 6 months. Here is what I can tell you. If you are looking for upscale dining, this place is not for you. If all you want is to get down with some AYCE, then this is a good choice. The crab legs were cooked well each time that I went. The option of pricing AYCE in a tiered manner is great compared to other places that I have been that only include crabs and nothing else. It is a bit pricey but I feel it is worth it for the selection that you get. Yes, they bring everything out in little paper trays about 4" by 2" (except the crab legs) and yes, it is probably not as "green" as some of us may like. It is most likely to ensure that excessive amounts of food are not wasted as you see in so many other AYCE places. Love the fried oysters and the Cream of Crab soup. Bottom Line - if you are looking for AYCE and want to eat more than just crabs, this is a good choice as long as you are going for food and not for atmosphere. Everyone is welcome and served whether you ride in on a Harley with a bandana on your head or drive up in your Lexus in heels.

Nice to have a seafood restaurant out in the countryside. Haven't had the crabs, but the oysters and other shellfish are pretty darn good. Don't think the prices are any higher than you would find at any other inland seafood house. Service can be a tad slow during busy periods, but the wait staff is pleasant.

Can't speak to the steamed crabs, but---have always had good food here. Their fried oysters are yummy. A little slow on the service and a little pricey, but a nice, low key seafood place out in the countryside.

Went here for Easter with my mom. Could't wait to have all you could eat. Started off with crab legs. Thought they were huge but did bend. Was not provided one of those scrapers but my mom told me to use the crab claw and that kind of worked. Did not order the small crabs because I hate doing all that work for only a little bit of crab meat. The hush puppies were awesome. Had the fried oysters, those were good. Also ordered steamed clams and musseles. They were very small. Also had steamed shrimp. Wait staff could have been more attentive. Other than that everything was good. We left stuffed.

I too moved to the Frederick area from my hometown of Annapolis a couple of years ago. One of my first priorities was to find a decent crabcake. Tried a couple of places reputed to have the "best in town" and wasn't impressed at all. My favorite so far was Liberty Road Seafood House. They also have good fried shrimp. I believe the secret is to stay away from the all-you-can-eat entrees (always a good policy!). I think the crabcakes are different for ayca, according to a friend who didn't like them at all. Been three times and enjoyed all three. Haven't gotten the steamed crabs, we get those from a carryout that has nice, fat ones, and eat them in the backyard the way you're supposed to!

Me and my wife and son and his future wife went too liberty and we tried it.It was great the king crab legs was great with the rest of the food.Price wise a little high but for what you get it's worth it.Plan on going again soon but always call for a table a head of time.I think for the price you pay they inclued the soda and free refills.

Our family has frequented this place for at least 10 years and have never left dissapointed. We always have reservations and have never had to wait. The wait staff are very friendly people as well as the owner and his wife. A very friendly, family oriented place to go for awesome seafood. For the all you can eat they don't bring one dish at a time. They will bring you several so you won't run out. I would recommend this place to anyone!!

Our family has been to Liberty Road Seafood about half a dozen times. It's a "mom & pop" sort of place where the food is delicious. The wait staff are always on the go, ready to please. It can be a little pricey for our budget so we save it for special occasions.

    Thank You Liberty Road Seafood!

While I can't deny the criticisms below, I have always enjoyed this place, especially the all-you-can-eat menu. It's a crab house. Don't expect anything fancy, but there is plenty of food and it comes out good and hot. I've never had any problems with the service, although it can get crowded and there is often a wait for tables in prime time.

I discoverd this place about two years ago and have been there several times throughout each year. While I've never experienced a wait to be seated, the wait staff is, in general slower than what I would like. However, I've found a way around that in ordering ahead or enough to hold me over until they come back by to take another order. I think the slow staff is dependent on the number of large groups. The "good" waitress we had happened to be on a quiet evening. Usually there are large parties (8+) and that tends to tie up the wait staff.

The seafood quality is good. I am not a big fan of their blue crabs (although I normally live for blue crabs) because they tend to be on the smaller side. The dungonous crab legs are great although my wife prefers king. The shrimp are VERY NICE SIZE and are usually my favorite. They have a nice variety of seafood, and other types of food that I don't waste my time with. I've been told that their hush puppies are good as are their flank steak. The all-you-can-eat ordering is easy, you order the option you want and have the option of eating everything of equal value or below. I usually go with the crab legs and that allows me to order whatever I want.

Because I'm not overly impressed with their prices (a bit steep) I plan on visiting other places in Frederick to get a better comparison. If you are looking for a low-key place to stuff yourself full of seafood, this is a good place so long as you bring your charge card. BTW, I think they have a special on Thursday nights (discounted crabs)- but be sure to call and ask about that

Had to wait even though we had reservations. Then had to wait an hour for food. Then wait staff was very discourteous.I discourage anyone from going to this "Restaurant"

I didn't like it. I was referred there by a co-worker who told me that is was "Just like the old Chesapeake Bay Seafood House".. he could not have been more wrong.

The service was terrible. We waited over an hour to eat and when we went in they had MANY empty tables but apparently not enough wait staff.

The crabs tasted like they had been boiled all day and the shells would actually bend.

I grew up in Annapolis and will gladly pay the price of gas to go back home for some decent seafood.

Liberty Road is wonderful, moved recently from Washington DC to Frederick and a lover of seafood. It is a no frills restaurant whose food beams with quality. We've been 6 times within 2 months and the service has always been great and friendly. All you can eat is awesome and creab cakes delicious.

We had out of town guests who wanted Maryland crabs (they're from Texas) and we decided to go to Liberty Road on the advice of a friend. We were not dissappointed. The crabs were delicious and we could order so many items from the all you can eat list and all was delicious. I liked that they brought the food to you in small amounts so we wouldn't waste much and the atmosphere was great. A lot of people enjoying themselves and their CRABS. It was a little chilly under the fan though, but I brought a sweatshirt and I was fine. We will definitely go back!

This is a great restaurant set in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The food is delicious and although a little pricy, well-worth it. I also found the service to be very fast and friendly. (The others who posted must be in the small minority of people who are dissatisfied with Liberty Road).

Liberty Road is not like it was in the good ole days. Wait was too long, service was just average. We had to keep asking for things that should have been brought to us when we sat down. The crabs were ok, but seemed like they were re- heated too many times. We tossed about a third while doing the all you can eat. I would give this place 2 stars.

I have lived in Frederick for 25 years and gone to Liberty Road seafood about 10 times. Not ONE time have I been happy about it and swore I would never go back. This time it was NOT my idea, but I was part of a large group going. Out of 15 of us only one person liked their food. The service was sooooooooooo slow, the crabs were small, smelled bad and watery. I truly do not understand the long lines. Jug Bridge has no wait, great service and great food. This time I mean it.......NEVER AGAIN!

I do not like the way they serve their food. Everything is brought out in seperate disposable containers. It is very, VERY wasteful. I don't want to eat off paper plates at a restaraunt unless it is a pizza joint. The food isn't that great either.

Comments on this restaurant? We were just there 6/30/04 the service was slow-not enough help for the overcrowded area. the crabs were fishy smelling-like they may have been reheated. we get crabs in the same area and they are not like that. the other items on the menu was not very good either the prices are really high for the quality.

Most times I've been to Liberty Road, the crabs have been good. Other than a long wait to be seated on the weekends, I think it's a very good restaurant. I do recommend the hushpuppies (apple fritters).
