That's why there's Dairy Queen-for folks like Lisa. That's alright-some people actually prefere Dominos or Pizza Hut for pizza instead of a good independent place like Gentleman Jims, The Original Ambrosia or Ben Yehuda.
I do not think peer pressure was the reason JC was rated the best last year in a WTOP survey.
I gave them 4 stars instead of 5, just because I think JC has cut back a little on the amount of ice cream they give. Last year was my first year & the large cones towered almost TOO tall. I guess they too have felt the economy & had to cut some corners.

The BEST!! This was a hang out in high school (Damascus High '81)... and now living in Howard County I frequent the 'new' Mt. Airy location. If someone asks, "do you want sprinkles"? Walk do not run to Jimmie Cone for the REAL DEAL, with "Jimmies"! Go there on Saturday night to see all the hot rods, and occasionally live music. It's like sitting in a Norman Rockwell painting complete with little league (or soccer) teams, and with chocolate with chocolate Jimmies. ENJOY!

Jimmie Cone is not only iconic but its the best ice cream I personally have ever tasted. To the one person who said its grainy, its actually the exact opposite of grainy, and has anyone ever tried a chocolate malt? If not, try it next time you go, too bad it will have to be in March. =(

We were visiting from the left coast and this place was the BOMB!!! I want one out west so I dont have to make a 5 hour plane ride to get another, my kids are willing to make the flight just to get a cone then go home again!

This is the best place in . How can anybody hate it??? We wait all year for it to open. It brings everyone together in the summer. The ice-cream is amazing. I love Damascus and I love Jimmie Cone!!! If you're ever in town come'n by and grab a cone!

Jimmie Cone is absolutely the best ice cream shop in all of Mount Airy, Frederick County area. It's without a doubt one of the best in Maryland. With clean facilities, nice employees, friendly customers, and beautiful locations, it's without a doubt ice cream you cannot miss! The only thing I dislike is that Jimmie Cone has not made yet another location.
So folks, bring your whole family to Jimmie Cone, for a night of fun, and great ice cream....!

Wonderful ice cream in a variety of flavors; the classic banana split and sundaes are excellent. Go here if you want to have a great dessert at good prices. (the foot long hot dog is pretty good as well)

They don't make them like thiss any more. Jimmie cone is tuely a top notch old time ice cream shop. And the Leiters just know there stuff. You have to try it to get the real feel of Jimmie cone.

It doesn't get any better. A no brainer for me. I've been going there ever since it opened. My parents took me as a kid, especially my Dad. I go at least twice a week. Hope my wife doesn't read this because she thinks I only go when I take her and our kids. I have gone 3 times in one day; a couple times 4 times in a day. Sorry Hon. Vanilla cone. Yeah man!

My co workers and i get ice cream from jimmie cone almost every friday during the monthes that jimmie cone is open and we love it and enjoy it very much its close by and has very good soft serve ice cream and those of us that like to watch our weight can always get a WOW COW!!

It's one of the only places in town where decent-tasting; and on occasion, delicious; fat free frozen yogurt is served. I like to get a small on a cone with sprinkles. I wish Jimmie Cone were open year round!

How can anyone criticize Jimmie Cone?? JC is mt. airy and damascus' mom and pop ice cream shop! So the help is teenaged and offer little professionalism, but that's what makes JC so classic. It's run by locals and enjoyed by locals. The frozen treats are delightful and the familiarity of the establishment and fellowship is fabulous. My recommendation: Peanut butter and oreo flurry with vanilla ice cream... enjoy!!!

The Jimmie Cone is a Damascus tradition. Sometimes the lines are long and you may wait a while. Parking can be tight. A good selection of frozen treats, though, including low/non-fat choices. Not sure about the chili dogs.

Comments on this restaurant? Honestly, what is the lure about this place? Peer pressure? People don't know any better? We have been three times this summer. The teenage help is barely polite. The soft "ice-cream" is so grainy, its barely palatable. Even my 8-year-old daughter doesn't like it. With so many real ice-cream parlors to choose from in the area, this is not the way to go. We've stopped going.

Good old fashioned ice cream stand. Very busy on weekends. They've got snow cones, frozen custard, dip tops, sundaes and shakes. All worth the drive if you're passing through.
