Used to love this place but was very dissappointed with my last visit. It was my daughter's 14th birthday and she was really exicted to go there. The chef seemed bored with his routine and hardly put on a show. She was not made to feel special at all and even though I had ordered the birthday package (which they charge for incredibly!!) they forgot and had to be reminded after they had brought us the check. There was also an error ont the check.

Do do have to give them credit for good food but we will be looking for a place with more comittment to their customers.

I find Miyako to have the best sushi in Frederick (Hinode is quite good too, but more expensive and not better than Miyako). Food quality, restaurant atmosphere, and staff friendliness always consistently good.

Today was my first time coming to a place like this, and I loved it! ^_^ Everyone is so friendly there and they make sure you're having a good time. I don't believe I've ever had as good as a time eating out before. The food was by far the best I've had, especially the salad! That dressing is to die for. By the way, there's this thing they do called the "onion train", cutest thing ever!

I took my office in December 2009. The were very busy and reservations a must. I have eaten there before so I had expectations. But after ready some reviews, I must confirm some dissapointment. The appetizers were never delivered. After 5 times of asking for them, twice to the lady and three times to the grill chef,(whom he yelled across to them to bring it, it never arrived. Finally as he was preparing the main course, I just said never mind.

When the check came I reminded them to make sure my appetizer was not on the bill. A gentleman not associated with us overheard me and said, oh yes I just forgot, they never brought my appetizer either. Not isolated cases. Soo was our lady server, who seemed to be greeting and taking reservations. I think either hire more staff if busy, or have someone at the Sushi bar who can keep up.

Normally the chef flips food for everyone to catch in their mouths. This time they only bothered with the kids and no adults got to enjoy the experience.

Food was good as usual, glad that's consistant

No one came to apologise or cared. Big dissapointment.

We've been to both locations and think the quality is pretty good. I've had Hibachi and sushi all over the country and they are pretty good. They are definately worth a try.

We had a party incorporating the entire table. Two of our guest were elderly and took a little longer to finish their dinner than the hostess thought was necessary. They brought the next seating of people to our table and had them stand behind us until we got up and left. It was terribly embarassing for themadn it infuriated us. I went to speak to the manager about it on our way out and he would not come out of his office and I stood there waiting for 20 minutes. I would never go there again.

Sushi is great but everything else not so much. The other dishes are way too salty with very little flavor and the salads are store bought. The place is dirty; greasy chairs and tables and staind carpets. But if you're distracted by the chefs, you won't notice.

Sushi is Good. Miso soup is miso soup. The salad looked like it was fresh out of a resealable bag from the grocery store; dressing was not to my liking. Teriyaki chicken was dry and fried rice was salty and sweet for the American taste, even the waitress agreed. No lie! Staff is friendly. The place could be cleaner. I think the “entertainment” takes attention away from the weaknesses. I paid $30 for one; should have been less than half based on the quality.

    But the sushi is good.

This place was DELICIOUS. The staff was very friendly. It gave me an impression of the resturant having a warm atmosphere. They were very nice and the prices were reasonable. The entertainment was fun too. The sauce was great. I highly recommend this resturant. I like their idea of putting pictures of people on the walls. I love this place!

My family and I have been to Miyako dozens and dozens of times. Though they mightbe crowded on weekends its not a 1 1/2 wait like Outback. The food is always excellent and cooked exactly how you want it. Also, the service is great! The sushi bar is the first thing I go for whenever I walk in. I have never had a bad experience at Miyako nor has anyone I know.

I normally go to the Miyakos in FSK Mall. The manager Jason is great but we went to this one the other night and it was pretty good, too. I enjoyed the food very much and the service couldn't have been better. I would strongly recommend trying the one in the mall, also. They don't seem to be as busy and I think the sushi is a little better there.

I just moved here from Baltimore and it's pretty tough to find a good sushi place. Usually I wouldn't go for the steak house sushi bar but this place is GREAT!! The sushi is outstanding and the service is even better! They are always giving me new rolls to try! Get the Jason Roll next time you are in there! It's incredible!

Definitely the best sushi in Frederick. More expensive than Roppongi, but higher quality. If you are starving, go to Roppongi for quantity, but if you want delicious, well-prepared sushi, go to Miyako.

I LOVE this restaurant. I have come back too many times to count and am impressed every time. Try their Filet, it is outstanding and the rice is delicious, especially when mixed with "yum yum" sauce. The staff is very nice and the show is great but expect to wait a while because most times it is busy so bring reading material or enjoy the many pictures on the wall from previous birthday celebrations :-)

MY first impression was "gee thats a lot of photographs". Inside it was very busy, usually a good sign in a resteraunt. We were seated in a timely manner. The drink lady took our sushi order and promptly brought our soup. The next course was a salad with a watery peanut sauce. The drink lady took our meal order then the chef arrived. He was very friendly and talked to each of our 10 party. He put on a very entertaining show. It was`nt until he served the rice that we remembered the sushi. It had still not arrived. We ended up getting it at the end of our meal while the chef was cleaning the grill. The taste of the food was very average but the grill chef was worth the wait. Beware of your eybrows they will be singed.

My boyfriend and I go here all the time. The staff know us and are extremely friendly when we walk in the door. I was never a huge sushi fan until he started bringing me here regularly a few years ago. Now we go once to three times a week. Sushi is a healthy way to eat out and it's very tasty as well. We love the spicy tuna rolls but eat the sashimi and edamame regularly. The sushi chefs are fun and friendly and they do often give little extras. I'm not a fan of miso so they usually bring me their chicken and mushroom soup instead. Very understanding.

The Hibachi is something we do with our families on birthdays. They are big fans of using butter in EVERYTHING and the orange cream sauce has a mayonaise base so we try not to eat this too often. The scallops are to die for and the filet mignon is usually very tasty as well. The show is pretty much always the same but it is still fun each time especially if you are sitting with newbies or friendly people.

They will be opening another location in FSK where the old movie theater was in the wing next to what is now Macy's. I can't wait.

The food is ok for a less traditional Japanese resturante. If you want to dine in privacy this is not the place to go. The prices were expensive and the food was ok. I prefere to go to Kyoko, but for a big party that wants entertainment this is ok.

The sushi bar is great. We used to be huge fans of Kyoko, but the prices at Miyako are lower and the sushi is tastier. And yes, each time we've gone the sushi chefs surprise us with a little something, on one visit there were 2 surprises! We have only eaten sushi here. The Miso soup is my favorite of anywhere, and that and the crab salad are always complimentary. You just can't go wrong. And who needs 'extra flare'? That's just too funny....

The restaurant changed ownership and the chicken and steak do not taste the same. To save face for the chef, we asked to take our food home, even though it was not good value for the money we paid. dinner for 2 was $50!The service was no better. The waiter took it upon himself to walk outside to our car and demand to know why we did not tip. I was soo enraged that I asked to speak to the manager who did nothing for me to make me a satisfied customer. We will not be back EVER and we will tell everyone we can that the food was bad and the service even worse.

    The food was great!!

The Servers were very friendly, and they treated my family so good.

My one of favorite part is special drink. The mixed drinks are yummy. I was enjoying the drink at the bar while I was waiting for my family. The bartender was very nice, friendly and funny!

I definately will go back there!

The old fashioned hibachi style Japanese cuisine is still alive and well in Frederick, Maryland. This place is popular any night of the week with many screaming children about. Be prepared to eat with strangers and be shown the door quickly when the meal is done to turn the table over efficiently. Service is entertaining, but you pay dearly for it. The food is tasty but you wouldn't want to eat here frequently, because everything cooked on the hibachi grill tastes about the same and you would get tired of it quickly.

If I could give zero stars I would. The food was good, but the service was horrible. As soon as the last person at our table finished eating they made us leave because they were busy. They started taking the plates and glasses. They were probably 10-12 at the table and not all of us were together. It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Absolutly the best habichi grillin in town. Expect to pay about $30 per person but not a bad deal for dinner, drinks and a little show. The service is OK, and the sushi is pretty good but you might get better sushi at Roppongi's. You have to try this place.

I would like to comment on Miyako's wonderful sushi bar. The sushi is fresh and there are lots of great choices. The sushi chefs are friendly and frequently hand out samples of new things to try. Comments on this restaurant? Wonderful! Sit at the sushi bar and watch the chef prepare your order. Sometimes we've been suprised by a "treat" - a little suprise dish put together at the whim of the sushi chef, and not on the menu. Everything is fresh and wonderful. My husband and I frequent many of the sushi places in Montgomery County and DC, but we keep going back to Miyako.

On our first anniversary, my husband and I were driving around looking for a restaurant, and came across Miyako. We decided to give it a try and were glad we did! The prices were reasonable and the food excellent! The presentation of the food being prepared is so much fun, and the employees are always very friendly. The Miyako sauce that gets served in a little dish that accompanies the meal is so delicious! We have since been back several times, and especially enjoy watching children watch the "show."
