Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant near Urbana. You may drive by a hundred times wondering what's inside. Try it ... you will definitely like it.

We love this place! The food is fabulous and service is outstanding. We enjoy the wine tasting dinners, too!

The Chef is an imaginative and energetic young CIA grad. His wine dinners are exciting and superb! The service staff are young and very eager to please. Overall, a wonderful French Auberge style restaurant in the middle of the Maryland countryside. We've moved to Asia but still miss those wine dinners. Highly recommended!

I particulary like the pace that they serve their wonderful meals... course by course, without rushing you. Whatever you may order, it's just a delightful and delicious place to go.

I went here for my anniversary and was disappointed. The waitress showed up with a chipped wine glass & took over 10 minutes to bring new one. My wife's entree was seafood pasta & a white wine was paired with it - we were both surprised when the dish showed up with a red sauce (not in the description). There are better places in Frederick to dine.

This is the best food I have ever eaten. I went away full and content. Very rarely does that happen... this is truely a case of value for the dollar without the stuffyness of most restaurants with this caliber of food. I have been lots of times and everytime the entrees are outstanding, I even ate at the bar one night and the "cheers" like atmosphere made me laugh and feel like a regular. Obviously the bartender and the regulars have fun jeering each other and I couldnt help but get involved in the conversation and had a blast with everyone. If you cant get in eat at the bar you wont be disappointed.

Monocacy Crossing is an all around good restaurant; the food is varied and of high quality, as is the service. I've dined there a few times, normally with a few friends and though it is "a good restaurant" it could use some improvements

though the menu is varied, it does not focus on one type of cuisine, though this can be seen as a good thing, it can also be seen as the opposite. On one of the occasions i visited Monocacy crossing, i ordered a rac of lamb and a tuna tartare. the tartare was amazing, and the wildly different lamb was drab and a bit cold when brought out. Perhaps it was only my lack of experience with the menu or atmosphere (situated next to the main fan)

I don't understand how this restaurant doesn't have a perfect 5 stars, you can't compare some of the other restaurants with the same score. This is a stand out dining experience beyond compare!

This is one of my favorite restaurants! The atmosphere is comfy and romantic. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is always quick and friendly. I also love their drinks - they have a nice selection of martinis and their fuzzy navals are made with fresh squeezed orange juice. I have had several private functions that I have booked their and each party got rave reviews from the guests. Owners Rich and Kelly were also very friendly and accomedating for the functions.

What a meal! This is by far the finest Frederick restaurant. Especially impressed that you can enjoy each course without being rushed. We were completely done with our appetizer when the salad was served. This continued on for the main course and dessert. The food is great! Beyond great!

We had our rehersal dinner there and went back for our anniversary. It was wonderful and everything was splendid. From the starter bread right down to the coconut pound cake, everything was superb. My husband had the steak and mashed potaots and I had the Open ravioli, both were delicious. My favorite part, was the coconut pound cake. It was so, so moist, almost wet! I'm searching for a recepie that will be close to that cake.

My friend and I had a great experience at Monocacy. The food presentation was very attractive, our server was very knowledgeable, accommodating and efficient. The meal was absolutely delicious. I had the spinach salad and it was supurb. The homemade breads and desserts were delicious. As you can guess, I really enjoyed my lunch and will definitely be back. We will have to try the dinner menu.

We went early in the week and the place was full. I can imagine the line on weekends. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time. The food and service was great but the dining area is cramped and anything but private.

You read that the place has good food, well its true. Stopped there for lunch on a spur of the moment. No regrets at all with the food or service. We had halibut with an orange sauce, prepared perfectly. The patio outside was crowded, so we went inside. Nice and cozy. The well prepared food should bring in the folks for memorable evening meals. Definitely will go back again.

The restaurant I name to prove that there is fine dining outside of DC and Bethesda. I can feel as comfortable celebrating an anniversary, having a lunch meeting or grabbing dinner with my family (toddlers included). The staff is unusually aware of your needs, and will be as helpful or invisible as you'd want them to be. I've never been dissapointed and am usually surprised. A true gem.

My wife took me there (a 75 minute drive from our home)for my birthday and I was not that impressed. The interior is as plain as imaginable even though they apparently just underwent a renovation? The entrance is thru the smokey bar (weird)and the mens room is tiny. The hostess/server greeted us pleasantly and we were seated at a table obviously reserved for us (we had called ahead)which was nice albeit cold as winter in there. The server was knowledgable even tho she pronounced a "blanc" sauce "blank" and after viewing the menu on line and being eager to try their highly touted spicy chicken and blue cheese wonton appetizer it was not on the menu any longer nor was the superb shiraz I saw on the websites list as well. I advise calling ahead if you see an item on the web that makes your mind up to go there. The steaks (filet and NY) were cooked perfectly but the gorgonzola and onions were far too heavy and overpowered the filet. A smattering of the same blend would be perfect so scrape it off and add a bit with an occasional bite. The beef quality was excellent as were the garlic skin on mashed potatoes. The Foppiano Petite Sirah is a steal at 30.00 and the desserts are pretty darn good too. Service was much better than average although I'd prefer not to have my knife removed from my app plate and put on my butter plate to reuse for an under dressed grilled romaine salad - which was good but would have been terrific with a bit more dressing. When making reservations we were told business causual although the servers were wearing faded blue jeans and 1/2 of the patrons were in shorts. OVerall a decent experience but not one I'd travel an hour plus for again.

Both to die for.The desert tray was ubanable to resist. We were so pleased that the weather did not affect Valentines Day.We also love to dine on the patio in the warmer months.Great addition to Frederick!!!

First off, the food was absolutely incredible! Both my wife and i stuffed ourselves all the way through to dessert and coffee. We both HIGHLY RECOMEND the Grilled Romain Heart Ceasear salad, it is ridiculously awesome. The food is definitely Fine Dining food. The atmosphere is more casual than fine dining and the staff were more on the casual side, dress wise and proffesionalism. If it weren't for the staff and atmosphere being a little too casual, it would have been 5 stars.

Excellent service, atmosphere, and food. A good location south of Frederick. About an hour drive from the DC area, and worth it in every way.

The wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The corn chowder/chutney served with the popcorn shrimp appetizer is amazing. Most lunck items are under $12. Take the trip and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Monocacy Crossing is one of our favorite restaurants, and we always look forward to a meal there. Make no mistake, their chef is terrific, and knows his business. The Oyster Stew (wonderful comfort food on a Fall day)is the best I have ever eaten, and I have never been disappointed in an entree, appetizer, or dessert. They recently added Shrimp and Grits to their lunch appetizer menu, and it is to die for. The atmosphere is laid back, the menu eclectic, the service is excellent, and their patio is wonderful. we cannot say enough good things about this place! You will NOT be disappointed.

We have eaten both in the dining room and on the patio. We prefer the patio, as the dining room is a little bit crowded.

Each visit we have had excellent staff.

We have had rockfish, gnocci, crabcake, steak, and they are all good. Good bread too! The only time we have had a less than 4 or 5-star meal is when we got a tuna steak drizzled in wasabi sauce and hot sauce. The sauces WAY overpowered the taste of the tuna.

Perhaps, honestly without exaggeration, some of the best food I have ever eaten in my twenty-one years. Well prepared, warm food. Unique options (I had Applewood Smoked Bacon Wrapped Steak Tenderloins with an Herb and Garlic Sauce, my girlfriend had a Smoked Pork Chop stuffed with Blue Cheese). Delicious crispy fresh green beans, great homemade potatoes, delicious deserts and appetizers. The service is friendly and quite expedient for the complexity of some of the dishes... and the atmosphere is quaint, romantic, and very pleasant. Definitely a place that should not be passed up if you get the opportunity!

Excellent food. Fresh baked bread. My husband had pork tenderloin in rum sauce, and I had the sweetest fish I have ever eaten. It was completely booked so reservations are a good idea. There was a spare table in the bar where we dined (and I do mean dined). It's a return trip for us.

Comments on this restaurant? Wonderful. We kept passing the restaurant on 355 on our way to Frederick and overlooking it because of the exterior. Finally, we stopped in for a late lunch and discovered what we were overlooking. We have now sampled most of the menu, and have not been disappointed in anything. The popcorn shrimp with corn chutney is not what you would expect, given the simple name - it's wonderful. The best thing on the menu, my repeat favorite, is the pork tenderloin with dark rum sauce. We held a large reception there in March (they actually have a very large back meeting room) - people are still telling us that it was the best reception food they've ever had. We agree.
