  Clean store, plenty of room in isles, most items easily located. Small but good selection of meats, generally a pretty good selection of non-produce items. Employees are knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. Prices are high, you'll find few deals here. Produce used to be best in the area but no longer. Bloom is better/fresher, Giant is the best. The worst part of the store is checkout. Even with few customers in the store, checkout takes forever. Their express checkout isle is always the slowest in the store. I blame management for the shortfalls in this store. I occasionally go to the Safeway on 7th St. Frederick and it is even worse. They should be ashamed of their produce. I've been a customer of the Walkersville store for 18 years and I used to go there daily. Now I only go to if I've forgotten an item from another store. When the new Wegmans in Frederick is open for business, I will probably never to to Safeway again. Walkersville Safeway gets my rating of 3 stars largely because their employees are so good.

  Watch the expiration dates!!! They often sell expired or very soon to be expired food. They withdraw products without warning often too. Their produce is often covered with flies. The staff is nice and will go out of their way for you, though. If you point out a problem they usually fix it (whatever is within that person's power to fix).

  There customer service goes above and beyond. All the employees are friendly and very helpful.

  Ive been to a lot of grocery stores and this is my favorite. Everything is easy to find which is more than I can say for BLOOM! The continuously add new products and have more healthy selections than any other. The whole staff really cares about the customers. Even the woman who works the deli knows which aisle to find everything in. 5 stars!

  Safeway is a little pricier than other grocery stores, but generally good quality food. The best thing they offer, which I never buy anywhere else, is their fresh-baked French bread or garlic bread. Nothing else anywhere even touches it. It's truly great. Though their produce is generally good, do NOT buy Red Delicious apples there. They are invariably a bit past their prime by the time they hit the top of the pile.
