I worked at mealy's for 2 years when I was 14. I am 25 now and live far away from Frederick. However, my family will still go there for special occasions and such. It is about 75% atmosphere, but I recommend the chicken sandwich or Monte Christo.

I was taken to Mealy's as I had never heard of it before and I must say that the service was friendly and obserant, attending to our every need promptly. The dish I had, a 5 oz crab cake with baked potatoe and vegetable medley plus salad, was wonderful and I would definately go back. Price wise I think they were right in line with many other establishments. Congratulations on winning me over.

My husband and I have gone to Mealy's several times a year for 15 yrs. We have never been disappointed. Excellent food, attentive service and a charming, romantic atmoshphere.

We have visited Mealey's repeatedly over the five years we have resided in Frederick. We have found both the food and service consistently very good and comparable to other fine restaurants we have frecuented in other cities like Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. The prices are not surprising for the type of restaurant. We will continue to invite our out of town guests to dine or brunch with us at Mealey's.

Nice atmosphere, very friendly wait staff. We went there for lunch. The food was nothing special, very below average for the expectations and prices. A keen disappointment that we hope they rectify, because it is a centerpiece of New Market and a wonderfully historic site.

Our family has been going to Mealeys since 1991. In that time we have gone to many restaurants, including some of the finest in Frederick and the Washington DC area. The standard bearer for dining experience is the Inn at Little Washington. Their food quality, service and attention to detail is quintessential. However, our trips to this restaurant are dictated by price (over $100.00 a plate without wine). Mealeys is a place that we continue to go to because we feel they share similar values...Great food, attention to detail, and superb customer service. All at a price that won't make you hesitate for many return visits.

I am shocked to hear the negative comments. I have gone to Mealey's for years and have never had bad or slow service. The food has been outstanding each and every time. We love the appetizers and all are delicious. The holiday decorations are very nice and the atmosphere is very comfortable and pleasant. We will continue to go and I have told many people to go. We love it !

I have been going to Mealy's for several years for the Sunday brunch and have enjoyed every visit. The food is very good and the service on Sunday is effective. Jose is very nice and kind to seat you and visit. We highly recommend the Sunday brunch as the best we know of in the great Baltimore area.

As a resident of New Market, I will tell you that Mealey's is one of the most over-rated restaurants in town. The ambience is lovely but the service is very slow and the food is below average at best.

Mealey's has been my families' special occasion restaurant for years, and I'm sure it will continue to be, however the prices have gotten to a level that we now, may consider some of the other fine restaurants in the Frederick area.

As someone who lives in New Market, I have tried Mealeys several times in the past few years. We have decided, however, that we simply cannot go there anymore. The food is of poor quality and is way overpriced. While the owners are nice, service is way too slow for an upscale restaurant.
Food quality is poor and unimaginative.

We have gone to Mealey's for the past 2 years for our Anniversary. The food is excellent and the service was great! We knew to expect it to be pricey, but Hey! We don't go there every day...just for a special occasion.

We have been to Mealey's many times and have enjoyed it for the service and food. Mealey's is not a restaurant to go to if you are in a hurry. For those who complain about the service being too slow, maybe you have not been to nice restaurant before?? I like the fact I'm not being rushed or my entree is out before I even finish my appetizer or salad. I have recommended Mealey's to all my friends and will always enjoy going there.

The food is supurb. My sister and I go to Mealy's at least twice a year.

My family has eaten at Mealey's many times and we have always had an enjoyable experience. The service is the best I've experienced since moving to Frederick county 4 years ago. I highly recommend this restaurant. For a pretty fancy place, it's not too hard to take young children there. You MUST get the bread pudding!

Inconsistent food and service; one time you might get a melt-in-your-mouth dish of scallops and the next, you might get a chewy, fatty, overcooked steak. It's a bit pricey to take your chances on, but spin the wheel o' Mealey's and you might get lucky.

Mealey's is the absolute best restaurant in Frederick and surrounding area. The food is delicious and the service impeccable.

Quality is the way to sum up a meal at Mealey's! Service is the best and the food is always superb. There is no need to go into an overpriced city restaurant when Frederick County has one of the best restaurants in the region.

My husband & I enjoyed our wedding rehersal dinner with family and friends back on November 5,1999. Have loved the food and service each and every time that we have been there. The comment above was absolutly correct, if you want fast service, go to a fast food establishment. If you want good food, then go to Mealey's. I would definately recommend this restraunt to anybody and come back time and time again. Thanks for the great food and awesome service. :-)

My husband and I have been to Mealey's several times and have enjoyed it. We recommended it to a family member who complained about the service being too slow--and complained to the wait staff. They received an apology, an explanation and faster service. What some people don't realize is that a "good" restaurant is not supposed to rush your meal. For example, If you don't put your salad fork down on your plate to indicate that you're done, they won't bring out the next course. If you're looking for a fast meal, go to Burger King.

Mealy's is our favorite special occasion restaurant. We have never been disappointed with the food or service.

This restaurant came highly recommended, but I was disappointed by the lousy service and inconsistent food. I e-mailed the restaurant with my concerns, but have received no response. Based on my experience I would not recommend it.

Great food and even better service! It is a great "date" or special occasion restaurant.
