We've dined numerous times at the Carriage House (lunch or dinner) and always had good food & service. Tonight, however, both service & food were below par. Our waitress didn't even know where to properly place our glassware; our napkins were not fabric (sort of a paper towel feel), and then our food was mediocre at best. Wine was way overpriced. Potatoes were lukewarm; dessert wasn't fresh. Major disappointment. The best part of the evening was the wonderful pianist...she was GREAT!!! We are left with nowhere to dine. The Lodge at Blue Ridge Summit has closed, and now the Carriage House is no longer the enjoyable place it was.

We thought it was a nice restaurant, but not what we expected from the website. It's more Cracker Barrel than fine dining (not a bad thing- just not what we expected). We enjoyed the piano (mostly Disney or Beatles love songs), and the service was prompt and friendly. The prices are ridiculous and not appropriate for the environment or the food. The food quality was acceptable, but nothing exciting or wonderful. I don't think you can put a basket of individually cellophane wrapped Lance crackers on a table, and then charge $30+ for an entree. It just doesn't add up.

One of my all time favorite restaurants! They have even expedited my order when I was short on time! Never rude, service always great and the food is wonderful!

Great dining, atmosphere and staff. Well worth the drive from Baltimore for a dining experience.

Considering their reputation, I found this place over-rated. While I've heard good things about their breakfast buffet, their dinners were simply "ok". It wasn't bad by any means, but it definately was not worth the price. The staff definately played favoritism towards the large parties, leaving the tables of twos to hold their own.

What started out as a quick trip to a Justice of the Peace for a young couple turned into a beautiful family reception at the Carriage House. they accomodated our uncertain numbers without anyone feeling that it was a last minute decision, the food was great, service was outstanding. they even managed to serve a cake that they were able to redecorate to look as pretty as any wedding cake with only a 24 hour notice. We are thankful that the staff at the Carriage House Inn gave a young couple some beautiful wedding memories.

We had a catered event and the Carriage House did an impressive job, made our event perfect. We also dine at the restaurant regularly and find the food to be the best in the area and value priced. Highly recommended!!

Disappointing. Cream of crab soup with bits of egg? House Chablis at lunchtime @$5.50 for a small glass? Service inattentive despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. Next time it will be Ott's or the Palm restaurant in E'burg, or head back to US 15 and have lunch elsewhere.

They Catered my wedding Reception. It was the best food I had ever seen at a wedding. I wasn't the only one who thought so. The service was awesome!

Super restaurant, wonderful food.
My waitress GM is an extremely fine and extremely competent person.
My wife and I eat here every other Sunday all year round, and travel fifty miles each way to do so.
Every employee at this very wonderful restaurant is extremely polite and helpful.

We have our birthday and anniversary dinners here every year. Food is delicious, service courteous and prompt, atmosphere friendly and gracious. We all agree that we have never experienced better food. Thank you Carriage House for settling in our small town of Emmitsburg. When we have guests visit from the city they can't believe what a wonderful restaurant we have here.

This was the most wonderfull meal we ever enjoyed! My husband and I were staying in the vicinity and happened upon the restaurant. It must have been prom night but the hostess was gracious enough to find us a table. Everything from the atmosphere, to the dinner and dessert was fabulous. We we make the 2 hour trip again just to visit this place!
