Would definitely eat there again. Pleasant ambience, lovely staff and ownership...though my highly selective hubby did not agree that the food was very decent. Guess will just go for lunch with girlfriends!

We frequent this restaurant often. We've had Great indian food in DC but this is really good for a local place. Always clean, they are always friendly, and I'd definately recommend it.

Clay Oven is the best Indian Restaurant in Frederick. The food is delicious.
From: Eric
Not bad and you do leave there feeling that you ate at an Indian restaurant as opposed to "Americanized" Indian food. The buffet is a very good value, lots of vegetarian choices and decent nan, too. There are better Indian restaurants out there but not in Frederick.

They have the best samosas that I have even eaten!!!
From: Matt Beckwith
The management is very pleasant and attentive, but the food (on the buffet) is mediocre. Much better idea if you're in that neighborhood to go to Thai Rice next door, or if you want Indian food in Frederick go to the Bombay Grill on Market Street.

The Clay Oven is simply wonderful. Having had Indian food in other cities, the offerings from the Clay Oven compare favorably in terms of price and--more importantly--flavor. The naan has always been fresh and tasty, and the curries and korma are highly recommended! Also, if you enjoy extra spicy food, try the vandaloo... it's amazing!!

Great flavors, cordial atmosphere, friendly staff, decent spread. Certainly beat my expectations. Reasonably priced.

I was disappointed by the selection and quality of the food. The food was average at best. I have eaten much better Indian food elsewhere.
Buffet should have been placed more inside the restaurant instead of being right at the doorway where people walk in.
Decor was very modest, but the food did not make up for it.

First impression--Buffet jammed into front door area--very poor placement.
Food was OK, but not exceptional. Fresh naan instead of stale steam table bread should have been served. Lunch buffet way overpriced for quality and variety. I've had better for half as much. Other reviewers must have never lived in a big city with GOOD Indian food.

Being married to a man who is half-Indian, we are always in search of a place that serves great Indian cuisine. We have found it- we eat at Clay Oven every weekend. The food is wonderful, the place is clean that the staff is so warm that they practically feel like family! They great us by name every time we come and know what we like. Plus, the prices are reasonable.

The food is absolutely delicious and the service is very friendly, efficient, and a lot of fun! The Clay Oven is my favorite restaurant to date! Also, the meals are as authentic as you can get, not the watered down Americanized versions, and you can order according to how hot or not you want a meal to be. Bravo to The Clay Oven!

Being from around that country and knowing the owners of many Indian Restaurants personally, I know for cerain the Clay Oven's first objective is the Customer Satisfaction. I have always found there food fresh. They are very polite and ready to inform you about various foods. Prices are reasonable. They always wel-come your suggegtions too.

We've eaten hear several times and always enjoyed it. Its not the best Indian food I've had but its very good. I definately prefer this place over the Bombay Grill.

My friend and I have been there a few times and the food was great and the service was wonderful as well. We went for lunch and they have a good variaty, but they dont like to put out a TON of food since a lot of people dont come in (they want you to have fresh food). Since there was only the two of us left we wanted bread and the manager (also the owner I think) had them make us fresh bread. Little things like that count!

We travel from Pennsylvania to go to the Clay Oven, which we have visited many many times. The food is wonderfully spiced with a great variety. The lunch buffet is an especially good bargain, with lots of vegetarian choices. The owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating. We love this place!

The Clay Oven is the best Indian in Frederick. Its not homemade, but for a shopping center restaurant, its really not bad. If you like it spicy, be sure to ask for it. Try the wonderful lunch buffet!

I've been going there for a while, now -- and it's always great. But just last week, I ate there and had the best Lamb Rogan Josh I have ever had. Simply amazing.

If you want to try something besides the traditional cheeseburger, this is the place to do it. Great food, Great Service, Great Prices, Great Atmosphere. One of Frederick's best kept secrets.
