Big Chef has been consistently in the front running of Chinese carry-out restaurants in the Frederick area. The food has always been good and fresh; the prices are reasonable; the portions are big and the staff is friendly. There have been a few times when the food wasn't exactly as ordered and they remedied that after a phone call by having us come back (not so good an option) or taking care of us on the next visit.

Have always enjoyed the food here. Grab take away on the way home after a long work day. The order is always correct and timely. My family loves it.

It took us a while to find Big Chef, but once we did, we were sold! This is the best Chinese food in Frederick that we have found so far. Portions are good sized, the freshness is unusual! Watching as your meal is prepared is a treat. We have patronized this establishment since 1999 - and are never disappointed!
We recommend this carry out often... hope it doesn't get too busy!

Big Chef is the best Chinese food in Frederick. I haven't come across a dish from their menu that didn't taste good. Everything that was said on the comment above is accurate, but it's actually $25.00 total before they give four cans of soda for free. Still pretty good! Also, you can request "no spice" if that is not your thing. My only disappointment is when they forget a piece of jumbo shrimp on my Pu Pu Platter. It's happened more than once, especially on call-in orders. They do remedy the problem but it's a hassle to go back for a missing piece. Service is usually great, but on occasion, my husband encounters someone who doesn't seem customer-oriented. But overall, the food is delicious and fresh, unlike other Chinese restaurants in town who seems to serve old, reheated food. You will know this if your chicken tastes dry and rubbery or the vegetables looks overcooked. Once you try Big Chef, you will never find another tasty Chinese food in town :)

Some of the best chinese food in frederick.
As far as carry-out is concerned this is my number one pick.
Food Quality...
The food is always hot and full of flavor. Meat dishes come packed with crisp vegetables and each dish has its own flavor. In many Chinese restaurants most dishes sort of blend into one flavor (mind you a good flavor) but each Big Chef dish is distinctive. Also, the spicy dishes are actually pretty spicy, a rare find in Frederick.
Prices:
prices are standard for Chinese carry out, which are usually excellent anyway. Lunch specials are cheap and the portions are overwhelming. Well worth every panny. For ordrs over 20 bucks (i think its 20) four free sodas are added to the meal.
Everything Else:
Its a carry out place with a few chairs for those who'd rather eat on-location. Theres not much in the way of atmosphere, prety much a small storefront and counter, behind which stands a large open kitchen (its fun to watch them cook).
Service is usually good and always freindly. It helps to circle items you want on the paper menus you order from, which is later stamped to your order (if your carrying out). Call ins can get tricky but ive never ended up with something I disliked enough to take back :)
Bottom line:
If you want good chinese food at home, at work, or on your lunch break, there are few better places.
