I agree with Fraser H. Clayton about the re-alignment, but as far as I can see there were only 3 Food Lion stores in Montgomery County unless they closed some during the re-alignment.
Anyone looking for a Food Lion in Frederick County still has 3 choices, the Thurmont store which is farthest from Montgomery County, the store at MD 75 and MD 144 (next to I 70) near New Market, and the store in Mount Airy with an entrance to the shopping center on Main Street. In addition, there are at least 5 stores in Washington County and at least 4 stores in Carroll County including Woodbine and Sykesville.

I think this is the ONLY store that has stayed a Food Lion after all other stores owned by that chain in Frederick County, MD and Montgomery County, MD have changed to the lower class "Bottom Dollar" or the upper class "Bloom".
If it were not a sixty mile drive for me to shop at the Food Lion Thurmont, I would do it.
I loved Food Lion, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
I never did think that the Food Lion grocery chain was broke.
But someone did and thus it's, "fixed"?
