Went there for Easter dinner with six friends. A true feast. We ate from the French menu: simply fantastic. Hors d'oevres were remarkable, including goose pate, crudites, pickled hogs tongue, turtle leg steamed in beer, abraded cornichon tartlets, basted bovine bunion, and poupon de pintardeau. Our favorite entree was the marcassin a la maitre d', the best I have had outside of Limoges. Wine offerings were opulent but, given he richness of the fare, we limited ourdselves to an upscale beaujolais. We kept our desserts on the light side. My chestnut and halvah creamed blended meringue d'amour with linden-tree honey was just right! We may make this an Easter tradition.

We are repeat performer types when it come to good food. There is just no better place on Ijamsville Road for the kind of quality French restaurant meal you can get at Gabriels Inn on Ijamsville Road. We especialy like the french cooking, and thats what we order. My wife & I drink wine, French wine, very good, and my kids have a kind of orange squash called something like "pschit orange" and they say its very good & also zesty. We've been there and you can be sure we'll be back!

My poker group went for an early dinners at Gabriels Inn last night to stoke up before an all night game. We had our most international guy choose the menu and he chose filet mignon and special green salad and roast potatos. He also chose some red wine called “bojolay” which was extremely good and went well with everything. For dessert we had rice pudding and some cream de caramel. They were top notch, really good. Afterwards we went and played poker till 6 am in the morning! It was a great game and after that dinner every one of us felt like ma winner, even the losers!
    We’ll be back!

Just a word, we go to Gabriel's only on special occasions and this one, my birthday, was very special. We had some fantastc food and some great service. The food was a fantastic hors d'ouvres of v-e-r-y good ingredients and the dinner was just sensational,. Some of us ate bouillabesse that was just f=a=b=u=l=o=u=s and some others ate an absolutely superb venison. Our dessert was to kill for, creme brulee for some and a splendid lemon pie for others. We will fast and wait, and then go back to this great spot, Gabriel's Inn! Love it !!

we just got back from a Valentine meal at Gabriel's Inn, and it was as if they had never closed, and I sometimes think they never did. It was awesome. We had some terrific veal shanks with rice & sauce and salad & a great dessert of mouse o' chocolate. We also had some neat wine, very good indeed. It was a great Valentine's event and only Good Old Gabe could do it HIS way!!

This is absolutely the most fantastic place. The setting is wonderful - well off the beaten path. My husband and I have eaten here several times. It is never crowded, though I can't understand why. The atmosphere is very romantic, yet comfortable enough to bring a well-behaved child. The staff is always attentive, yet doesn't hover. The food is wonderful. Try the steak "toranados" - it is so tender that you can cut it with your fork. Anything marsala (I've had their pork marsala and their venison marsala, which was a special one night long ago) is wonderful here. The wine choices are good. We bring all of our out-of-town guests here. It is wonderful.

When we are down and out and cold we head for Ijamsville Road, out near nowhere, and we find Gabriel’s Inn. There is no better place to drive away the winter blues. The fire is warm and the food warms the soul. We often have their gigot d’agneau (that means leg of lamb) and sometimes their coq au vin, a dish of sort of gamey chicken cooked in red wine and with baby onions & mushrooms & other g-r-e-a-t stuff! The wine is good, too, but it is not El Cheapo but pretty darn good stuff at a hefty price. But price is not why you go to Gabe’s place, it is rather quality and atmosphere. We last went there Saturday February 4, and it was just fabulous. So 3 big cheers for Gabe & his neat Inn!!

I love Gabriel's. I last ate there just after New Years. It's the best food on Ijamsville Road and it is always a surprise to see the gracious way they receive old customers. Good food and good friendship, many cheers for Gabriel's Inn!

I’m so glad Gabreils place is reopened after all that down time. It is so good, both the food & the really fine service atmosphere and all the nice decrations and flowers on tables. My favorite thing is their desert, the one that looks sort of like a choclate eclare and has all the whipped cream on top of it! We try to go every month or more often.

We went to the Gabriel’s Inn place last week and the food was terrific! I want to come back for one of the Saturday nite specials. They serve some very good stuff & some specialties like Canadian “poutine,” a great dish of french fries and melted cheese curds & ketchup. Keep up the good work!!

I got to be frank. I like Volt's place. May be it's not the cheapest, but the food is, to put it in plain English, "very good." And, like they say in the blurb, "Befitting the warm and elegant setting of the restaurant, Chef Voltaggio delivers modern American cuisine." Yep, that's true, and that's why I like to go to Volt's place on payday, even if there's not much scratch left over to feed the rest of the family for the next 2 weeks.

Anent the ChampChomp's trenchant assay into food critiquing, my extended family and I went to Gabriell's Inn on, of all days, last Halloween. It was a golden, bewitching occasion for food and family. And it was, of course, an occasion for those of us of faith to restore the dead for a day, one great meaning of Old Saints' Day.
What we discovered was that the food at Gabriell's was as fine as ever, and the drinks as good and copious, and the service as friendly and supportive as it had remained in our mind's eye.
All it took was the effort to go there, and the magic of that special evening! Mnemosene, thy name is Food Memory!!

I have always enjoyed Gabriel's Inn, and our dinner there this recent Thanksgiving was a capstone to other fond memories. What food, what service, what ambience! It is as if the place had never closed! I especially loved the goose with red cabbage entree, and the superb confit de canard that I sampled from a dining partner. And the flute of Cliquot gave everything an added taste.
Salut, Gabriel's Inn, you are in our thoughts and our collective gourmetic memory!

I agree with Anonymous up above that the new Ijamsville Inn has some of the best food in Frederick, and that the restyled decor is a worthy successor to its glorious predecessor.

Thats nice that you thought the food was great but you must be thinking of a different restaurant because we are not even open yet. We bought Gabriel's Inn last year and have been working on it for nine months. We are renovating in a big way and it is looking fantastic! You won't even recognize it. The food is going to be incredible and we promise great service and a super friendly staff!! We hope that everyone will come out to dine with us at "Ijamsville Inn and Restaurant"

Love the authentic French style six-course meal. My family has been once for my birthday. Mom and dad ordered the beef wellington (its amazing even though it takes a long time to cook.) I have had the alscacian pizza with lardons and a delicate white sauce (yum!). The best authentic French cuisine here in America in my opinion.

The service is a bit slower than what you would expect in a fast-paced American restaurant. I like that the service is slower as you don't feel so rushed through your meal. I lived in France for some time during college and I know that it is very common in French culture for people to take a table for 5-6 hours and wait staff isnt as attentive to every empty plate or empty cup. I think Gabriels delivers the best authentic French food and French Provencial atmosphere in the area. Hands down!

Very nice and quiet place. Delicious quality food and wine. Go for the French course! Not expensive for the quality and quantity that you get.

The food is great, call a day in advance if you want a souffle. Watch your step in front as the walk needs some work. Coming home in the dark is a little tricky from there, so use a gps or a map.

Pleasantly surprised to see Gabrielles is still serving. Way back in 1977 my soon to be wife's mother was a caterer and worked with Gabrilles to make some tea sandwiches for a wedding . As a professional curiosity ,She convinced us to go to an early dinner. On the plus side the dinner was the best I'd had since traveling on the SS France in '72 . Quite authentic and delicious. But, I still can't decide who I felt more sorry for - The poor server who had three tables walk out on her , or ourselves for suffering through an Eight hour -yes , 8 hour dinner. Obviously, everything is cooked fresh. Just don't order the beef wellington as I think they proof the dough on demand for this dish.( I could have killed my future sinister- in-law for ordering this dish.LOL) Nice garden area to walk between courses!!!

Beautiful setting, very charming. The food was fabulous! Seriously, everything we had was delicious even though a French restaurant ought to have true French bread (not grocery store baguettes) and better butter than what you get at a diner. That was the only down side to the food. We went on a Saturday night with reservations. Were seated right away, took 45 minutes to get just the bread. Another 30 minutes to get the appetizer after we had complained about the slow service. I didn't hear any excuses from staff/owners that they were short staffed, so I'm assuming service is just horribly slow on main dining nights. Saw a table of 4 walk out after their appetizers because of slow service also. Wouldn't go back just because of the slow service. Food was great though - just not sure it was worth all that wait.

Very nice value. You can choose to have your meal served in the American way or French. The French way is a six course meal (for and extra $10.00). I'll go back for sure.
