Overall very good food. The steak was excellent and prepared just how we asked. A bit of advice, dont order the scallops wrapped in bacon. Eight dollars for three medium scallops...very disappointed. Setting is dated but clean.

We went there Sunday evening with a group of about 15. The Grilled romaine salad was very good. The grilled salad was hotter than my Stuffed Flounder though. I tried to put butter on the potatoes and the butter would not melt. The fish was also cold and tasteless. The crabmeat stuffed in the flounder and had a few shells. Too expensive for these kinds of mistakes.

The interior reminds me of someplace my grandparens would take me, and the food seems to be about the same. The portions are large, but rather plain.

This has been one of my favorites for years, the steaks cannot be beat! I like the 1960's decor as it takes me back to simpler times. The wait staff is excellent.

My husband, cousin and myself dined at the Red Horse last night and it was the best restaurant meal we have had in a long time. We always dine at chain restaurants and now we know what we have been missing. The service was super, the food tasted very good and was cooked as we requested. Not one negative comment could be made about our experience and we will not wait another 20 years before we return. The prices are a little more than the chains, but well worth it.

Beats any commercial steak house I've ever been to. Ambiance may be tacky, but who cares the food and staff are terrific.

This is where we go when we have a big family celebration. Never disappointed!

Easily the best steak in Frederick at a reasonable price, the steaks at the Red Horse are always prepared perfectly to order and are not loaded in seasoning that covers the flavor of the steak rather than complementing it.
The decor is old-fashioned, which is just fine. The ambiance is pleasantly dark and usually quiet. The service is far superior to what is available at most area steakhouses.

Used to be a favorite haunt for our expense-account dinner meetings in Frederick, but it's gone WAY downhill in recent years. They closed their twin restaurant in Hagerstown, didn't they? Anyway, the Red Horse is a fond mnemory for me... After my last two (unsuccessful) stabs at a good experience there, I gave up.

The Red Horse has gone WAY downhill in recent years. They closed their Hagerstown restaurant for lack of business. Shame... it used to be a good steakhouse.

I usually tear apart any meat I get and only eat half of it due to fatty parts. Yet when I was finished at the Red Horse my plate was empty... no fatty chunks of meat clumped together on the side of my plate.

Although the food is good, nothing is very flavorful. Nothing is bad, but I never leave thinking "WOW that was great!"

I was very pleased with my meal at the Red Horse. The food was prepared with care. Can't wait to go back!

This is my favorite steak house, the staff is great, just watch out for the newer bus boys since they can snatch a plate away from you before your done!!! But overall great food, average priced and good location. Pretty impressive for a hotel resturant.

Hugely overpriced (full meals are $15 too much, each). Food was very good and service was good. The atmosphere was tacky, like a small boy scout camp mess hall. For prices like this you'd expect MUCH MUCH more. Another old-time Frederick establishment that disappoints people that have been elsewhere. Been twice, same reaction by all both times. One star deducted for poor value.

Steaks are very, very good but the ambience is very, very tacky!

The Bromfield Brothers have been doing steak and seafood right for years. Just when you think there's no such thing as excellent service, in come the outstanding wait staff of THe REd Horse. THere may be something a bit "dated" about this venerable old restaurant, but I'll take old-fashioned & good over trendy & lousy any day...you can't eat the fancy table cloths.

Attentive service, comfortable setting and delicious food. A Frederick favorite.

This is one of our favorite restaurants for a special evening. The service is consistently good and the steak and seafood are excellent. NOT a good place for the kids - the atmosphere is reminicent of a 1960's supper club with dark red leather chairs, knotty pine paneling and candles. VERY VERY relaxing.
The menu is basic steak, seafood, and a few pastas - they stick to what they do well. I wish more places were like this.

Steaks are prepared as requested, when you ask for a med rare steak that's what you get...still pink inside not well done and chewy...
